Dr. PRP USA Kit vs Ycellbio Kit – Comparison Report

Published: 03/05/2024

In this comparison report, we provide detailed performance-related data about the kit from Dr. PRP USA and the kit from Ycellbio. Comparative parameters in this report include factors like:

  • platelet concentration
  • time for centrifugation
  • technology used
  • volume capacity in the PRP preparation process
  • years in operation
  • regulatory status

With multiple emerging product lines in the market, understanding the factors that differentiate one from another is crucial. The bottom line is: not all PRP kits are created equal, and that is why it is important for doctors and patients alike to compare the performance of various PRP systems.

Dr. PRP USA has unveiled this new series of comparison reports to help guide medical providers in choosing an effective PRP system. It’s equally important to help patients ask the right questions about what type of PRP system is in use for their PRP treatments.

Platelet recovery and viability of the platelets recovered are two of the most important factors to consider when choosing the most effective PRP system. Why? Because PRP procedures will not have the desired result if a precise therapeutic dose of platelets is not accurately administered.

Platelet Recovery

Dr. PRP USA

94-97%
Able to produce low or high concentrations of platelets for different applications.

Platelet Concentration Factor

Dr. PRP USA

2-8X
Volume Dependent
Manipulatable with DUAL spin method for increased concentration.

Ycellbio

4.26X Single spin method
Note: Using Ycellbio, beginners often extract only plasma containing few platelets. This uses a PPP (Platelet Poor Plasma) layer rather than PRP. Since platelets are also present in PPP, the treatment effect is very poor. With Dr. PRP USA, if you extract and discard the PPP by collecting the PRP only in the upper chamber and extract the PRP by touching the needle to the bottom of the upper chamber, no PRP will be lost. Anyone can extract highly concentrated PRP as long as they know how to use it according to the IFU.

Volume Capacity

Dr. PRP USA

We have two kits available for purchase – a 30 cc kit and a 20 cc kit.

Our 30 cc PRP kit will be available later this year and requires a minimal blood draw of 27 cc, with a PRP yield of about 15 cc – allowing medical providers to harvest more PRP with one draw using a single kit.

Our 20 cc kit holds 20 cc of fluid—2 cc of anticoagulant with 18 cc of whole blood—and produces a fixed amount of 4 cc of highly concentrated PRP. It is, however, adjustable and can produce 2-6 cc.

Ycellbio

The available blood tube size is 15 cc (provides two) with 27 cc blood draw required to produce its PRP yield of 6.5 cc.

Configurability

Dr. PRP USA

Dr. PRP USA’s clear chambers ensure that you can see all of the blood sample components. The buffy coat layer can be easily seen in the neck of the device, meaning that you can precisely separate the components into the type of PRP you wish to produce. You can even eliminate Red Blood Cells from your PRP final product. It is capable of producing a leukocyte poor and RBC poor (totally yellow) product or a leukocyte and RBC rich product for different uses. It can also produce low or high concentrations of platelets for different applications.

Some swinging-out centrifuges are compatible with the Dr. PRP USA kit. We also offer adaptors for Harvest, EmCyte, and BioMet centrifuges.

Ycellbio

Contamination Prevention

Dr. PRP USA

Sterilization: Gamma Sterilization 3 years. Also, you eliminate external contamination due to the closed system, double O-ring interference port. The close chamber system offers very little contamination risk. Each kit is gamma-irradiated as per industry standards. With Dr. PRP USA, the upper cover is made of a double-blocking structure of medical silicone. Air contact can be blocked during extraction.

Ycellbio

Sterilization: EO-Gas only 1 year. Also, the top cover of Y-cell BIO is a lid that simply opens and closes. High possibility of contamination due to impossibility to block air contact.

Compatibility

Dr. PRP USA

Uses a Standard Centrifuge for 50 or 60 cc tubes, depending on centrifuge and rotor.
